International Desk:At least 13 people were killed in in a road accident, Madhya Pradesh, India. Twelve women and a man were killed after the auto-rickshaw carrying them collided with a speeding bus in Gwalior.The accident took place at around 5:30 am on Tuesday (March 23), reported the Hindustan Times, quoting the police.
Police said the bus and autorickshaw collided head-on at Purani Chabani in Gwalior district on Tuesday morning. Police said nine women and the auto-rickshaw driver were killed on the spot after a bus coming from Morena hit the autorickshaw. The bus has been seized.
Gwalior District Police SP Amit Sanghi said the accident took place around 7am on Tuesday. The slain women used to cook at a place called 'Anganwari Kendra'. They were killed in an accident while returning home on Tuesday morning.
Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan condoled the deaths, has expressed deep grief over the loss of life in the road accident. He also announced compensation for the kin of the deceased.
The Chief Minister tweeted, “I and the state are with the mourning families in this hour of grief. They should not consider themselves alone. The state government will give Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to those injured.”
