Special Correspondent: A man named Nowroz Hira Sikder has been accused of raping 11 teenagers in Barisal for the past four years for fear of releasing videos. The rapist Hira is said to be a member of the managing committee of a secondary school in Bakerganj upazila.
On Wednesday (October 28) night, a teenage victim filed a case against Hira and two others at Bakerganj police station. Another local, Sheikh Imran Hossain, has lodged another rape complaint on behalf of 11 people. Accused Nowroz Hira Sikder is currently absconding. He is the son of Abdul Khaleq Sikder of West Faridpur village in Faridpur union of the upazila.
Witnesses said Hira Sikder was beaten in the area adjacent to Sikder's house in Faridpur village on October 19 over a trivial incident. At that time, his mobile phone fell from Hira's pocket. Later, a man from the village got the mobile and saw pornographic videos of Hira with different girls inside. He also has a picture of his daughter. After that, one by one, most of the people in the village got those videos on their mobile phones. He was repeatedly raping the girls by showing these videos.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Imran Hossain, who had lodged a complaint with the police on behalf of the 11 victims, said Hira Sikder had been having sexual relations with the village girls at different times by showing them various temptations. In the meantime, some of the teenage students at his school had poor test results. He raped the girls in the name of changing the results of his power to become a member of the school's managing committee. He also raped them with various offers including getting a government job, getting married and marrying a good boy.
From January 20, 2015 to October 19 this year, Hira had sexual relations with 11 girls. Their age is between 12 to 18 years. During the physical relationship, the diamond of these girls invisibly holds it on the mobile. Later, they were raping them again for fear of spreading the video of the mobile phone. Mir Mohison, chairman of the managing committee of the school where the accused Hira is a member, said, 'I want justice for Hira Sikder. I know about the rape case against him. We will also take legal action against him.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Bakerganj Police Station Abul Kalam confirmed the matter. He said there was more evidence of violence against women against Hira Sikder. Police are continuing their operation to arrest him.
