Time to consider alternative dollar

Own Reporter: The time has come to think about alternatives to the dollar. A. K. Abdul Momen said, to reduce the dependence on the dollar, a mechanism for using other currencies in foreign transactions should be created. It should be led by the Central Bank. But it is not very easy. Because it's something new. We need to discuss this.

He said this at a discussion meeting at Maulana Akram Khan Hall of the National Press Club on Friday (February 16).

Abdul Momen said, no one knows whether the condition I am in today will remain the same tomorrow. He thinks, we kept many dollar reserves, other countries also kept. If there is a war between them, the dollar will become paper. We have to be alert to the way the world is going.

He said, if we can do the practice of using other currency in advance, then we can arrange ourselves if any problem occurs suddenly. So we should start this practice from now. We can initially do trial transactions with Yuan-Taka, Rupee-Taka.

The former foreign minister also said that we don't want to push our achievements in the last 15 years. We want to advance our achievements equally. In 2041, we will be a developed-prosperous-stable-non-communal economy country. But to do that, we have to continue our development. Don't want to bump into it suddenly.
