Staff Correspondent: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, we all know Begum Khaleda Zia is seriously ill. Today she is fighting to the death in the hospital. Why doesn't the government want her to go abroad? They talk about the law. But the law says the government can send her abroad at the moment if it wants. Barriers are not laws. The obstacle is this illegitimate government.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a women's rally in front of the party's central office in the capital's Naya Paltan on Wednesday (December 1) morning. BNP standing committee member Selima Rahman, senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Afroza Abbas, Sultana Ahmed, Nilufar Chowdhury Moni, Helen Jerin Khan and others also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier in the morning, a women's group marched from Naya Paltan demanding the release of Khaleda Zia and her treatment abroad. Later, the leaders and activists of the women's party held a short rally in front of the office due to police obstruction. Fakhrul also protested against the police obstruction in the women's procession.
Mirza Fakhrul said that the government wants to stop Khaleda Zia without arranging medical treatment abroad. We have to fight for our lives. The way we fought in 1971, the way our mothers and sisters fought, today we have to fight to bring back democracy in the country, to liberate the country's leader Begum Khaleda Zia.
The BNP secretary general said, we have to wake up our mothers and sisters by going from house to house across the country. All people have to come together. We have to unite. The independence that we got in this country in 1971 has been looted by Awami League today. Only to establish their one-party system of governance.
