The BGB is Concerned about the Presence of Separatists in India

Staff Correspondent: BGB Director General (DG) Major General Safinul Islam expressed deep concern over the presence of the armed regional separatist terrorist group in the Indian state of Mizoram within Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bangladesh.

At a joint press briefing on Friday (December 25th), he appealed to DG Rakesh Astana of the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) to destroy the hideouts of the separatist terrorist organization. The BGB DG expressed his concern at the 51st DG level border conference of the two countries in Guwahati, Assam.

At the conference, he expressed deep concern over the killings at the border and requested the BSF DG to implement effective measures at the border between the two countries to reduce the number of killings to zero. Referring to the Government of India's Zero Tolerance Policy against Terrorism, the BSF Director General assured that appropriate action would be taken against those dormitories.

The border conference, which was held from December 22, will end tomorrow, December 26. A 11-member delegation led by BGB Director General Major General Safinul Islam and representatives from the Prime Minister's Office, Home Ministry and Foreign Ministry took part in the conference.
