Secretary Warns Field Administration Officials to Prevent Corruption

Staff Reporter: Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, Sheikh Yusuf Harun, has expressed dissatisfaction about the irregularities, corruption, inefficiency and chaos of the field level officials in the public administration.

On Friday (December 25th), he issued a stern warning against such activities, saying strict disciplinary action would be taken against those involved in corruption, irregularities and chaos. Those who cannot acquire skills, qualifications, do not need to stay in the job.

He said this while addressing a function as the special guest at the district level recognition officer best recognition ceremony of 2020 at the Divisional Commissioner's Office, Segunbagicha, Dhaka.

In this regard, he said, it is our responsibility to evaluate the field level officials and give instructions accordingly. It is the responsibility of the government to reduce corruption and irregularities to zero. He has given necessary instructions to the officers in this regard.

He said that the officials at the field level of the administration are getting involved in a lot of corruption, while many are trying their best to save themselves from crime. The allegation was made by the public administration secretary himself. He says most of the officials try to stay in Dhaka, which is painful.

He said, 'The criminal tendency of our officers is so high now, every day I have to hear a few departmental cases and many are being punished in the cases. I saw that there was an incident at Pekua UNO.

UNO has nothing to do with it, he said in a televised statement. 'He could not answer a question. I was embarrassed to see the show, one of my UNOs, went on television but couldn't answer a question.'
