International Desk: A Taliban delegation from Afghanistan has arrived in Tehran on Tuesday morning (January 26th for peace talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Javed Zarif.
Taliban leader Mullah Abdul Gani Baradar is leading the delegation. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh confirmed the matter.
Khatibzadeh said the Taliban delegation was visiting at the invitation of the Iranian Foreign Ministry and to discuss what steps to be taken to bring peace to Afghanistan. When the Taliban delegation arrived at Tehran airport in the morning , they were greeted by Iranian Foreign Ministry officials.
During their visit to Iran, the Taliban delegation will meet with Foreign Minister Mohammad Javed Zarif and Iran's Special Representative for Afghanistan Mohammad Ibrahim Taherian. They are expected to discuss further issues related to the ongoing peace process in Afghanistan.
