International Desk: Members of the Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force have taken part in an army parade in Delhi on the occasion of the 72nd Republic Day of India.
A 122-member armed force comprising Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force took part in the Republic Day parade on Tuesday (January 26th).
The joint parade was organized to mark the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh-India friendship. Although India became independent on 15 August 1947, the country did not have its own constitution. Although the constitution was drafted, it was adopted on November 26, 1949. At that time the framers of the constitution decided that the Republic of India should be celebrated on a special day. That is why January 26 was chosen. The first Republic Day was celebrated on January 26, 1950.
This year the parade time was reduced due to Corona. Only 30 minutes is allotted for the main parade. At the same time the number of guests is also reduced. Children and the elderly have not been given access to this year's Republic Day parade. No foreign guests were invited.
In this parade, the Indian Army along with different forces displayed tablo on the highways of Delhi highlighting the cultural features of different states. Governor of West Bengal Jagdeep Dhankhar hoisted the state flag of India on the Red Road in Kolkata. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was present in the parade.
As the second country in the history of India, Bangladesh became a proud participant in the Republic Day parade of that country.
