Six police officers, including former Dhaka district superintendent of police (SP) Md Asaduzzaman, have been dismissed from service for allegedly remaining absent from duty for extended periods.

The Home Ministry issued separate gazette notifications announcing their dismissals today.

Among those dismissed is former Dhaka district SP Md Asaduzzaman, who was attached to the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sardah. According to the notification, he had been absent from duty since September 17, 2024.

Former Additional DIG Mohammad Zayedul Alam, attached to the Rangpur Range DIG Office, had reportedly been absent since November 4, 2024.

Former Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajib Das, who was attached to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), had been absent since November 2, 2024.

Former SP Mohammad Sanowar Hossain, attached to the Barishal Range DIG Office, had been absent since January 1, 2025, while former SP Arifur Rahman Mondal, also attached to the same office, had reportedly been absent since February 19, 2025.

The sixth officer, Additional SP Palash Ranjan Dey of APBn-7 in Sylhet, had been absent from duty since August 12, 2025.

The gazette notifications said the allegations against the six officers were established during departmental proceedings. Based on the findings of those proceedings, the authorities decided to dismiss them from service.
