Several arrested from Paltan

Sun News Desk : Police arrested several persons when a religious organisation brought out a procession at Paltan in the capital after Jumma prayer at Baitul Mukarram Mosque.

Witnesses said the religious organisation, "Islami Qanun Bastyabayan Committee" brought out a procession at the north gate of Baitul Mukarram Mosque after Jumma prayer calling to ensure the rights of citizens, belonging to all the religions.

When police prevented the procession, a chase and counter-chase took place which led to the arrest of several persons from the spot.

Hayatul Islam Khan, deputy commissioner (DC) of Motijheel Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said the processionists swooped on police when they intercept the procession.

He said several persons were injured from the procession.
