Rihanna's tweet put global spotlight on farmers' protest in India

Entertainment Desk: US pop star Rihanna has tweeted about Indian farmers' ongoing protest on Farms Law.

Her tweet, “Why aren’t we talking about this?!” sprked attention and at the same time India launched a severe backlash against the singer.

Rihanna posted a post on Twitter in support of the ongoing movement. Moreover, Greta Thunberg, a Swedish environmental activist, expressed similar support for Rihanna.

On Tuesday night (February 2), Rihanna posted a picture of the peasant movement on Twitter. There, she wrote, "Why aren't we talking about this?"

Rihanna has more than 100 million followers on social media. News of the peasant protests in India naturally spread like wildfire after this post. Many people became vocal about this through social media.

Like Rihanna, Greta Thunberg supported the peasant protests. She also shared a news link on Twitter about the farmers' protest. Earlier, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also stood by the farmers.

However, Rihanna's angered Indian Government. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has expressed dissatisfaction, criticising celebreties for their "neither accurate nor responsible" comments,.

Earlier India has suspended mobile and internet service in the protest sites of the capital Delhi, where the farmers are camping, to maintain 'public safety',
