President-Prime Minister mourns death of ATM Shamsuzzaman

Staff Correspondent: President Mohammad Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed profound shock and sorrow over the death of Ekushey Medal winner veteran film actor ATM Shamsuzzaman. .

They expressed their grief in separate messages sent to the media on Saturday (February 20th).

In his condolence message, the President said, the death of ATM Shamsuzzaman is an irreparable loss to the cultural arena of the country. People will respectfully remember his contribution to the development of non-communal consciousness in Bangladesh.

The President prayed for the forgiveness and eternal peace of the soul of the noted actor and conveyed deep sympathy to his bereaved family.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deep grief over the death of the prominent actor. In her condolence message, the Prime Minister said the popular artist will live in the hearts of the people through his extraordinary performances.

The Prime Minister prayed for the forgiveness of the soul of the deceased and conveyed her deepest condolences to the bereaved family members.

ATM Shamsuzzaman breathed his last on Saturday (February 20) morning at his residence in Sutrapur. Tributes and condolences continue to pour in for this eminent actor by people from all walks of life as well as notable political leaders immediately after his demise.

Ekushey Padak and National Film Award winning actor was suffering from old-age complications, informed his family members.

ATM Shamsuzzaman was laid to eternal rest at Jurain Graveyard following second namaz-e-janaza after Asr prayers at Sutrapur Mosque.
