Staff Correspondent: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed her conviction that the country will move forward on its own feet with dignity.“We are Bangalees. Bangladesh is our country. Bangladesh will hold its head high in the world and move forward with dignity. We will stand on our own feet with self-esteem.”

The PM also said, the struggle to establish the primacy of Bengali as the mother language started by the Father of the Nation and it paved the way for Bangladesh's independence, while virtually addressing the presentation ceremony of the Ekushey Padak-2021 on Saturday.

The Ekushey Padak-2021 awarding ceremony was held on Saturday (February 20) morning at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital organized by the Ministry of Culture. This medal is awarded to 21 eminent personalities for their contribution in various fields.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presented the award at Ganobhaban via video conference. On behalf of the Prime Minister, the Minister for Liberation War Affairs handed over the medals to the talented people.

In her speech as the chief guest, the Prime Minister highlighted the context of the language movement and Bangabandhu's contribution. She said the main goal of the movement was to achieve independence.

At that time, the Prime Minister said, all the struggles and freedom of the country were achieved through the language movement. Therefore, the Prime Minister urged the next generation to learn from the medal winning talents.
