Own Correspondent: Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam has said that a decision will be taken soon after an inter-ministerial meeting on whether to reopen the educational institutions amid Covid-19 pandemic..
The information was given by the cabinet secretary in response to a question at a briefing after the cabinet meeting at the secretariat on Monday (February 22).
Earlier, a virtual cabinet meeting was held from the Ganobhaban, where the Prime Minister and Ministers from the Cabinet Division in the Secretariat attended the meeting via video conference. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina chaired the meeting
Asked if any decision has been taken in the cabinet meeting on reopening educational institutions, especially universities, the cabinet secretary said, "It has been discussed. The Ministry of Education has been asked to come to a decision after calling all concerned. We will review the environment whether the situation is created, when we will open (the educational institution). '

The government shut the educational institutions on March 17, 2020 and the closure was extended several times, most recently until next February 28. The first Covid-19 cases were detected in the country on March 8 last year.
