One killed in road accident

Sun News Desk : One person was killed and 25 others were injured when a picnic bus lost control and fell into a ditch at Amtali upazila of Barguna today.

The deceased was Islam, son of Samsuddin Bepari, resident of Chak village of Bandar police station of Narayanganj district.

The accident happened in the area when the driver of a picnic bus from Narayanganj district to Kuakata lost control over the steering and the bus fell into a road side ditch at Ghatkhali on the Amtali-Kuakata road area around 5:30am, leaving 26 injured, officer-in-charge (OC) of Amtali Police Station Tapu said.
Amtali Fire Service and locals rescued the injured and took them to Amtali Upazila Health Complex.

Dr Iram Ahmed, Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of Amtali Hospital, said that among the injured, Islam died on the way to Barishal Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital.

The driver and helper of the bus managed to escape.
