Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam made the remarks after a virtual cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday (November 23rd).

The Cabinet Secretary said that the issue of masks was coming up very strongly again in the unscheduled talks. Several thousand people were fined yesterday. We said to see one more week, motivate people more. Then go to a little stronger punishment.

Asked what the strong punishment would be, the cabinet secretary said the fine could be increased. Maybe he is fining one thousand Taka, five hundred Taka, he made it five thousand Taka. That's how we said to go a little stronger way. Those who run mobile courts will also carry masks so that people can be paid with fines.
