Staff Correspondent: Bangladesh will begin vaccination against the deadly coronavirus tomorrow February (7). The rollout is officially starting in 1,005 hospitals across the country, including Dhaka.
Three lakh 28 thousand people have already registered for vaccination.
On the first day of the drive, several ministers, including Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and Health Minister Zahid Malek, will be inoculated.
This information was given at a press conference on Saturday (February 6) afternoon by the Director General of the Department of Health. ABM Khurshid Alam.
He said the health minister will receive the dose at Sheikh Russell Gastroliver Institute. The health minister will inaugurate the vaccination campaign from the DGHS through video conferencing.
Khurshid Alam said 3 lakh 28 thousand 13 people have registered for vaccination till 2.30 pm (February 6). All the centers that have been visited today are well prepared. We hope that we will be able to start vaccination without any hindrance.
He said Chief Justice would be vaccinated at the Sohrawardy Medical College Hospital. Secretary to the Prime Minister's Office Tofazzal Hossain will receive the shot at the National Institute of Neurosciences (NINS) . The Cabinet Secretary is expected to receive the vaccine at the Sheikh Hasina Burn and Plastic Surgery Center. The Home Minister will be vaccinated at Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital. State Minister for Disaster Management and State Minister for Public Administration will be inoculated at the Sheikh Russell Gastroliver Institute.
He said MPs, political leaders and local dignitaries from different districts and places would be involved in the centers and would take part and co operate in vaccination campaign.
The first corona vaccine was introduced in the country on January 27. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the program.
A day later, 541 people were initially vaccinated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Kurmitola General Hospital, Bangladesh-Kuwait Friendship Hospital, Mugda General Hospital and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).
