The Prime Minister herself is monitoring the Sculpture: Quader

Staff Correspondent: Awami League general secretary and Minister for Road Transport and Bridges said that the Prime Minister herself is monitoring the Bangabandhu statue and the subject of the opposition.

He made the remarks while talking to reporters on Saturday (December 5th) after paying homage at the tomb of Hossain Shaheed Suhrawardy on the 58th death anniversary at Doel Chattar.

Obaidul Quader said, "We are in the government. You should not heat your head in all matters. The Prime Minister is handling the matter. The way she is dealing with Corona, she has come here with courage to deal with adversity. So she knows how to deal with any situation."

"We will not go into any conflict," he added. "We will argue that idols and sculptures are not one. Those who speak out against sculpture today know that there are sculptures in Muslim countries, including Saudi Arabia. Sculpture is not anti-Islamic there, why is it unreasonable in Bangladesh?"

Regarding Hossain Shaheed Suhrawardy, Obaidul Quader said, "He is our national leader, the son of democracy, Bangabandhu's political guru. During the Pakistani colonial period, he repeatedly fought for democracy, was persecuted and even left the country. He repeatedly said that democracy is the key to my life. The verdict of the people is the last word on the question of constitution, he used to say that."

Though a section of the people in the country spoke of democracy, they never believed in democracy in their behavior and actions, the general secretary of Awami League said, they are the enemies of democracy. They do not want the development of democracy.

In order to institutionalize democracy, internal democracy must be practiced. At the moment, no one except the Awami League has practiced democracy in Bangladesh. It cannot be expected that those who do not have democracy in their homes will establish democracy in the country.
