Khaleda Zia's Three Birthdays, Hearing on Wednesday

Staff Reporter: All the documents related to the birthday of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia have been submitted to the High Court in the direction of the High Court. The High Court fixed Wednesday (December 15) for the hearing.

Tuesday (December 14) Justice M. Inayetur Rahim and Justice. The High Court bench of Mostafizur Rahman passed the order.

Earlier, lawyer Nahid Sultana Yuthi appeared for the writ petition. Deputy Attorney General Bipul Bagmar represented the state.

The High Court has fixed Wednesday (December 15) for hearing on the rule issued on the observance of Khaleda Zia's birthday on August 15 and the report on the same.

According to court sources, the IG, SB, Board of Secondary and Higher Education, Passport Office, Election Commission and Evercare Hospital authorities have submitted reports to the court. The report mentions that Khaleda Zia's birthday was on 8 May, 15 August and 5 September 1946.

In fact, the High Court summoned all the documents related to the birthday of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on June 13. All concerned were asked to submit all the documents to the court. At the same time, the court issued a rule asking why the inaction of the authorities to stop celebrating Khaleda Zia's birthday on August 15 would not be declared illegal.

On May 31 this year, Supreme Court lawyer Nahid Sultana Juthi filed a writ petition in the High Court challenging the validity of Khaleda Zia's different birthdays. In the writ petition, Home Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Ministry Secretary, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Gulshan Police Station OC and Khaleda Zia were named as defendants.
