Sun News Desk: A fire broke out at Serum Institute, a corona vaccine manufacturer in Pune, India. The fire was reported at noon on Thursday (January 21).
A fire broke out in the building adjacent to the gate of Terminal No. 1 of Seram Institute. a huge cloud of black smoke is seen above the area. The fire service quickly arrived at the scene and at least 10 units of the fire service are trying to bring the fire under control. an official of Pune Fire Office said “We have no other information, on the extent of the fire or about anyone is trapped,”
The fire broke out at 3 pm. The SII, the world’s biggest vaccine maker, is manufacturing millions of doses of a vaccine developed by Oxford University. The fire has broke out in an underconstruction plant.
However, "It is not going to affect production of the COVID-19 vaccine," a source at the Serum Institute told AFP.
India began one of the world's biggest vaccine rollouts on Saturday which aims to caccinate 300 million people by July 2021.
