Fire breaks out at Khawja Tower

Sun News Desk : Fire brokes out at Khawja Tower in Mohakhali in the capital on Thursday.

On information, four Fire Service units went to the spot to douse the fire. Besides, eight more fre fighting units rushed to the spot later on.

After the fire broke out, many people from different floors of Khawja Tower thronged to the rooftop of the high-rise building being panic strickened. Risking their lives, some were also found trying to get down on a nearby building using ropes.

Officials of the Fire Services and Civil Defence said there are offices of different organizations and companies on different floors of the multi-storeyed building. Several people were rescued from inside the building and brought down on the ground.

Shahjahan Sikder, Fire Services and Civil Defence's media cell officer, said the fire broke out at Khawja Tower at Mohakhali at about 5:00pm. It is learnt that the fire broke at the 12th floor of the 13-storeyed building.
