Sun News Desk: A court in Meherpur on Tuesday sentenced eight people to life-term prison in the murder case of a man.

Judge of Meherpur District and Session Judge Court Shahidullah delivered the verdict. Public prosecutor (PP) advocate Pallab Bhattacharya confirmed the matter.
Lifers are former president of Gangni Upazila Krishal League Atiar Rahman, Samidul Islam, Shahar Ali, Tipu Sultan, Abdul Khalek, Aktaruzzaman, Mannan alias Mana and Zillur Rahman.

The court also fined them Tk 20,000 each, and in default, they will have to serve six months more in jail.
The case statement said Enamul Haque Nailo, a resident of Dhala village in Gangni upazila, was murdered on July 29 of 2017 over a previous enmity.

Later, his brother Azmain Hossain Tutul filed a case with Gangni Police Station in this connection.
Subsequently, Police's Criminal Investigation Department took charge of the case and pressed charges against eight, including former Gangni Upazila Krishak League president Atiar.
