Own Correspondent: The government has decided to open all the educational institutions at primary, secondary and higher secondary levels on March 30. This decision has been taken after reviewing the overall situation of coronavirus.
The decision was taken at an inter-ministerial meeting held at the Cabinet Room of the Cabinet Division at the Secretariat on Saturday (February 27) evening.
The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Education. Dipu Moni. Agriculture Minister Abdur Razzak, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education. Zakir Hossain were present at the meeting.
Besides, cabinet secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam, senior secretary of public security department Mustafa Kamal Uddin, secretary of secondary and higher education department Md. Mahbub Hossain, Secretary of the Department of Health. Abdul Mannan, Secretary of the Department of Technical and Madrasa Education. Aminul Islam Khan, Cabinet Secretary (Coordination and Reform) said. Kamal Hossain, Inspector General of Police Benazir Ahmed, Director General of the Department of Health. Abul Basar Mohammad Khurshid Alam and other concerned officials participated in the meeting.
Educational institutions have been closed since March 17 after the first coronavirus patient was detected in the country on March 8 last year. After that, the ongoing leave of the educational institution has been extended step by step till tomorrow, February 28.
Considering the overall situation, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has instructed the cabinet meeting on February 22 to take a decision on whether the educational institution can be reopened .
Speaking at a press briefing on the same day, Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam said, "The government has decided to review the situation for opening (educational institutions). We will sit in a meeting in five-six days. It will be an inter-ministerial meeting.
