Edu institutions’ holidays may extend again

Stafff-Reporter: Educational institutions have been closed for about 11 months due to the epidemic. It is being decided to extend this holiday again. The Ministry of Education will announce on Sunday (February 14th) whether the leave will be extended for another 15 or 30 days.

A source of the Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education, said, The decision to extend the leave of educational institutions was taken by the Prime Minister. He hinted at further extending the ongoing holiday. For this reason, a proposal to extend the leave for the next 15 or 30 days will be presented to the Prime Minister. If the Prime Minister agrees, it will be announced.

However, Parliament TV, radio and online classes will continue to run. It has been decided to extend the leave to protect students from corona infection. At this time, students need to stay in their respective residences to protect themselves and others from coronavirus infection.

When asked, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Education MA Khair said on Saturday (February 13), 'Holidays of educational institutions may increase. However, it has not been decided yet how long it will increase.

He said a decision could be taken tonight or tomorrow.

Educational institutions in Bangladesh have been closed since March 18 after the first corona patient was identified on March 17 last year.

Meanwhile, Education Minister Dipu Moni said on January 26 that all schools and colleges in the country would be reopened by mid-February if the situation in Corona did not worsen. This decision was taken in a meeting regarding short syllabus for the students at NCTB

Earlier on January 22, the Department of Secondary and Higher Education issued guidelines to open educational institutions by ensuring proper hygiene in Corona situation. Following this guideline, all educational institutions have been asked to prepare for opening. Then on January 26, the field education officials were instructed to monitor the preparation.
