Sun News Desk: 95 illegal immigrants including Bangladeshis have been arrested in a continuous three-hour operation of Malaysia Immigration. Among the detainees are 52 men and 43 women.

They were detained during a raid on the five-storey shop of Jalan Dewan Sultan Sulaiman-1 in the country late on Tuesday (November 16).

Initially, 150 migrants were detained during the operation, but 55 were released due to a lack of valid documents.

Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory Immigration Director Samsul Badrin Mohsin said the detainees were citizens of Indonesia, Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan. However, the number of Bangladeshis among the detainees could not be ascertained.

The detainees have been kept at Bukit Jalil Immigration Depot. Detainees will be further investigated under sections 6 (1) (c) and 15 (1) (c) of the country's Immigration Act 1959/63, officials said.

Most of the detainees were working as cleaners and construction workers in construction companies. Many of them have expired passports and many of them were living illegally as they did not have any valid travel documents.
