South Korea resumes receiving Korea entry visa applications

Staff Correspondent: South Korea will re-introduce visas. Visa issuance starts from today (February 8) for Bangladeshi nationals.

Foreign Minister. A. K. Abdul Momen said this in a message on Sunday (February 07) .

Foreign Minister. A. K. Abdul Momen said, South Korea would resume its visa program from Monday. Students including Bangladeshi citizens can apply in this visa process.

In their website Korean Embassy informed that Korea has been suspending issuing new visas to Bangladeshi nationals since 23 June 2020 in the wake of finding many COVID-19 cases among Bangladesh arrivals in Korea.

For more than seven months, such restrictive measures have continued, because COVID-19 positive cases were continuously detected among Bangladeshis arrivals even against their presentation of COVID-19 negative certificates.

In the website notice it is also informed that decision to resume the visa process has been considered due to the improved COVID-19 situation in Bangladesh and the low number of COVID-19 positive among Bangladeshi arrivals in recent several weeks. So, finally, the issuing visa now is available, effected from 8 February.

The notice further reads,'we strongly advise avoiding contact with others for two weeks before entering Korea and apply strict personal quarantine measures, and please postpone the travel plan when you have COVID-19 symptoms.'
