Staff reporter : A red alert has been issued to arrest Shah Alam, former chief of the Uttara East police station in Dhaka, who escaped from police custody.

The Police Headquarters issued the alert across the country and took all kinds measures to apprehend him, Rawnak Jahan, deputy commissioner of the Uttara Division under the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, DMP, told on Friday afternoon.
He said that a case has also been filed against Shah Alam over the escape.

Earlier on Thursday, January 9, the former OC of the Uttara East police station, Shah Alam, escaped from the police station after he was being arrested in a case filed over student murder during the Anti-Discrimination Students’ Movement in July and August last year.
