BRTA Extended Fitness Renewal Time

Self-reporter: The extended deadline for renewal of fitness, route permit, tax token and driving license of vehicles without penalty has been increased again till June 30 this year.

The emergency notification regarding waiver of fines was circulated on Sunday (January 3). On 31 December, the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) issued a notification in this regard.

"The renewal deadline has been extended to June 30," the statement said. Vehicle documents (fitness, tax token and route permit) and driving license are given the opportunity to update the vehicle documents by paying the original tax / fee without penalty.

The BRTA authorities said that the fine be waived till June 30, 2021, and the motor vehicle owners and driving license holdersare requested to update the documents.

In the notification, the company further said that in the future, the owners of defaulting motor vehicles will not be given any more opportunity.

Earlier, the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges had issued a notification extending the period for updating vehicle documents from June 30 last year to December 31, 2020. But as the extended time expired, the deadline for updating the vehicle documents was extended again.
