Corona Virus not the Last Epidemic: World Health Organization

International Desk: The head of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanam Ghebreissas, says the crisis of the corona virus epidemic is not the last epidemic. Efforts to tackle the problem of climate change and improve human health without the welfare of animals will be ruined.

He made the remarks in a video message on Sunday (December 28th), the first International Day of Prevention of Epidemics. He added that now is the time to learn from the Corona epidemic. For a long time, the world has been in a cycle of panic and contempt.

In his statement he said, 'we have poured money into the emergence of an outbreak. But whenever it's over, we forget about it. Do nothing to prevent the next epidemic. It’s horribly short-sighted and frankly, the subject is hard to comprehend'. This was reported by the news agency AFP.

In September 2019, the Global Preparedness Monitoring Board released the first annual report on the world's preparedness for health emergencies. The report was published a few months before the outbreak of the corona virus. It says the world is unprepared to deal with a terrible epidemic.

"History tells us that the corona virus epidemic is not the last epidemic," said Tedros Adhanam Ghebreissas. The epidemic is actually a fact of life. The epidemic underscores the fact that there is a close relationship between human life, animals, and the planet.
