Staff Correspondent: British High Commissioner to Dhaka Robert Chatterton Dixon has said that Bangladesh will get Generalised System of Preferences (GSP) in the United Kingdom till 2027.
He made the remarks at a press conference on Wednesday (February 17th).
A press conference was organized at the British High Commission on the first Bangladesh-UK Trade and Investment Conference.
At the press conference, Robert Chatterton Dixon said that GSP will be available in the UK market in two steps for three years.The UK yesterday reaffirmed its commitment to continue GSP for Bangladesh even after its graduation to a developing country from a least developed one.
Under the Everything But Arms (EBA) scheme, The UK and European Union, will continue the GSP for Bangladesh. The GSP facility will be provided up to 2027, so that Bangladesh can prepare to face new economic challenges after the graduation.
The UK is the third largest export destination and both countries agreed to improve trade relationship through a mutual commitment.
