Staff Correspondent: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, "The Awami League government is using state institutions, destroys democracy, the potential of democracy. But it is not the end. They should meet today, they should learn from the American election."
He made the remarks at a press conference on Tuesday (November 10) highlighting the role of the government and the Election Commission in the by-elections for Dhaka-18 and Sirajganj-1 constituencies.
The BNP secretary general said, "As is the case with the US elections today, those who have the authority have remained steadfast in the face of all pressures. Since then, they have upheld the verdict of the people today - that is democracy, it is democracy. Democracy cannot be established without democratic institutions.”
The senior BNP leader said, "They (the government) should see - if you open social media, you will see how the people in America have stood up. You must have noticed that many people in America are crying, that they have come out of a terrible situation, that they have breathed a sigh of relief, that people all over the world have breathed a sigh of relief. The only reason for this is the pressure of authoritarianism, the helplessness from which they, the people of the whole world want to come out.”
Aman Ullah Aman, Chief Coordinator of Dhaka-18 Paddy Sheaf Sub-Election Steering Committee, Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu, Coordinator of Sirajganj-1 constituency, Abdus Salam, Adviser to BNP Chairperson, Syed Emran Saleh Prince, Organizing Secretary of Dhaka-18 constituency Election Management Committee Member Secretary Saidur Rahman Bachchu were present at the press conference.
