VP Nur was released from the DB office

Former Vice President (VP) of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (VPU) Nurul Haque Nur has been released within an hour of his arrest in a rape case filed by a DU student.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Detective Police (DB) Joint Commissioner Mahbub Alam said Nur was released from their office along with six of his associates around 9.30pm on Monday (September 21st).

Earlier, police arrested seven people including Nur around 8.30 pm. They were arrested from the Matsya Bhaban area, said DMP Deputy Commissioner of Media and Public Relations. Walid Hossain.

Md. Walid Hossain said he filed a rape case against Nur Saha, a student of Dhaka University, at Lalbagh Police Station on Sunday night (September 20). Nur and his associates were marching from Shahbag to Matsya Bhaban in protest of the rape case. At this time they obstructed the work of the police. Later, the police arrested the seven including Nurul Haque Nur from Matsya Bhaban area and took them to the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police Office.

The number one accused in the rape case of a DU student. Hassan Al Mamun, convener of the Student Rights Protection Council. Apart from Nur, the other accused are: Nazmul Hasan, the joint convener of the Student Rights Protection Council, Md. Saiful Islam, co-president. Nazmul Huda, student. Abdullah Hill left.

In the statement of case, the student accused Hassan Al Mamun of raping her and then refusing to marry her. The allegation against Noor is that he called the girl to Nilkhet and threatened her in the name of resolving the issue. Noor said that if he exaggerated the issue, he would post 'Ultapalta' in his name with his fans and promote it as 'sex worker'. The number of members of their group is one crore 20 lakh. This will discredit him.

The student mentioned in the complaint, ‘Hasan Al Mamun is the elder brother of my department. I met him on July 29, 2016 thanks to the Bangladesh Student Rights Council. Being a senior in my own department, I fell in love with him at one stage of my personal relationship. In continuation of this, he had conversations with me through Messenger, Emo and WhatsApp at different times. There I was given hints of a physical relationship. On the afternoon of January 3, Hasan Al Mamun asked me to go to his house at 104 Masjid Road in Nawabganj. There he lured me into marriage and raped me. '

"I fell ill on January 4 after the incident," he said in the complaint. On January 12, I was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital through Mamun's friend Sohag. While I was in the hospital, Mamun and Sohag did not let me contact the campus reporters. Earlier, when Mamun was pressured to get married, he agreed. But after I got sick, he started making excuses. '

The student complained, "I verbally informed VP Nur about the matter on June 20 without seeing any way." He said, Mamun is my councilor, my comrade-in-arms. I will make an arrangement by sitting with him. Then on June 24 he came to meet me in Nilkhet with the assurance of a settlement. But he forbade me to go too far in this regard, avoiding the issue of settlement. If I go too far, he will post his name on Facebook with his fans and threaten to promote me as a prostitute. The campaign was threatened by a group of 1.1 million members of their Student Rights Council. Nur further said, all my respect will be gone in one of his live. In the meantime, Saiful Islam, the fourth accused in the case, has spread slander in my name and used the 5th and 6th accused to spread slander. They talked about my character in the messenger chat group and conspired to upset me. '

The court accepted the case when the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Lalbagh Police Station later sent a statement to the court alleging rape. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Yasmin Ara fixed October 6 for the submission of the court report.
