Sun News Desk: Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said the ruling Awami League nominated a well-educated, honest, qualified and skilled person for the country's next president of Bangladesh.

Obaidul Quader said "we have nominated someone for the position whose career and entire life is glorious."
He thanked Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal after he declared Mohammed Shahabuddin, a retired judge and former commissioner of Anti-Corruption Commission, president-elect of Bangladesh earlier today.

Quader said that BNP has no interest in the country's constitution and democracy. If there is no interest in democracy and constitution, then they should not be interested who the president is. We weren't surprised about that.
"We want to make it clear that we want a competitive election. It is our expectation that a party like BNP will take part in the election," he said.

He also said the new president will work in accordance with the constitution after assuming the post.
