Obaidul Quader said "we have nominated someone for the position whose career and entire life is glorious."

He thanked Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal after he declared Mohammed Shahabuddin, a retired judge and former commissioner of Anti-Corruption Commission, president-elect of Bangladesh earlier today.

Quader said that BNP has no interest in the country's constitution and democracy. If there is no interest in democracy and constitution, then they should not be interested who the president is. We weren't surprised about that.

"We want to make it clear that we want a competitive election. It is our expectation that a party like BNP will take part in the election," he said.
