65-day fishing ban at sea

Sun News Desk : The government imposed a 65-day ban on fishing at sea to ensure smooth breeding of fish.

The fishing ban will begin on May 20 and end July 23.

Md Iftekhar Hossain, Public Relations Officer of Fisheries and Livestock Ministry, confirmed the information on Thursday.

He said during the period, netting using any fishing boat, mechanical or other vessel will be completely banned.

The ministry will implement the fishing ban in coastal divisions and districts across the country.

The government will give food assistance to the registered fishers through VGF (vulnerable group feeding) programme during the ban.
