International Desk: A 6.4 magnitude earthquake hits parts of Pakistan on Friday evening. The quake affected the capital Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, parts of Balochistan province, Pakistan-controlled Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, the country's meteorological office said.
The quake struck at 10:02 pm on Friday, according to an online report by the English daily Dawn in Pakistan. Its center was Tajikistan. The Pakistan Meteorological Office has warned of aftershocks of minor intensity.
No casualties were reported in the quake. The exact situation in remote mountainous areas is yet to determined.However, the tremors caused panic in many areas including the capital, where people rushed out of their homes.
The impact will be known later in the day, the Daily Dawn reported.
