International Desk: New Zealand's karmadaka island is jolted by a powerful earthquake. The epicenter was reported at 29,4066 degrees south latitude and 16,817 degrees west longitude, according to the US Geological Survey.
The quake, which struck at 00:28:49 GMT on Friday (January 8th), had a magnitude of 6.3 on the Richter scale. The U.S. Geological Survey said.
However, the extent of the damage is yet to come.
