5 People Including Safat Ahmed Were Acquitted In The Rape Case

Staff Reporter: Five people, including Safat Ahmed, son of Dildar Ahmed, the head of Apon Jewelers, has been acquitted in the rape case of two students of a private university at Raintree Hotel in Banani.

Judge Begum Kamrunnahar of the Dhaka Women and Child Abuse Suppression Tribunal on Thursday (November 11th) handed down the verdict as the charges against the accused were not substantiated.

The other four accused are Safman Ahmed's friend Sadman Sakif, Naeem Ashraf alias HM Halim, Safat's bodyguard Rahmat Ali and driver Billal Hossain.

It may be mentioned that a case was filed against five persons at Banani Police Station on May 6 for raping the two students of a private university in Dhaka at gunpoint by inviting them to a birthday party on March 28, 2017.
