Staff Reporter: Carpeting of road (bituminous work) has started on Padma bridge. The work started at 9.40 am on Wednesday (November 10). Road Transport and Bridges Minister, Obaidul Quader is overseeing it.

According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, another feather has been added to the crown of the Padma Bridge.

The carpeting work is being done by the contractor China Major Bridge Engineering Company (MBEC).

It is learned that the construction work of the main bridge has been completed 95 percent in the meantime. About 69 percent of the projects have made overall progress. And the progress of river governance work has been 7 percent. The work of connecting the road between Mawa and Jajira has been completed.

Those concerned hope that the Padma Bridge will be fully operational before June next year. Then crossing will be a dream, crossing will be immense possibilities. The movement will be fast. Growth will increase.
