5 killed in US gun attack

International Desk: At least 5 people, including a police officer, were killed in a gun attack in the United States on Thursday.

The police have arrested one suspect in connection with this, reports Reuters.

Local mayor Mary Anne Baldwin said that at least two people, including a police officer, were injured in the shooting. They were sent to the hospital. However, he did not give any details about the incident.

"We have to do more," Baldwin said. America must stop this senseless violence. We must confront gun violence.

The shooting began near the Neuse River Greenway in Raleigh of North Carolina around 5pm (local time). Then police trapped the suspected gunman inside a house, the local mayor said. Raleigh police later tweeted that the suspect was taken into custody.

The suspect is believed to be a white teenager with a long gun, WTVD television reported.

Video taken from a WRAL television helicopter showed more than a dozen emergency vehicles lined up on a road through a forest. It is one of several crime scenes.

The mayor said multiple state and local law enforcement agencies started in the investigation of the incident.
