Sun News Desk : At least 232 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed over the country on the first day of the 48-hour countrywide blockade called by the BNP and other opposition parties.

Md Shariful Islam, Public Relations Officer of the BGB, confirmed the matter on Wednesday.
Md Shariful Islam said a total of 232 platoons of BGB have been deployed across the country to maintain the law and order situation. Of them, 28 platoons have been deployed in Dhaka and its nearby districts.

However, Fire Service and Civil Defence said miscreants set fire to 197 vehicles and structures from October 28 to November 20.
Earlier on Monday, the BNP announced the 48-hour countrywide blockade for Wednesday and Thursday to press home their one-point demand to hold the next general election under a neutral government.
