Garment workers in Dhaka’s Uttara withdrew their road blockade after nearly two hours on Thursday, allowing traffic to return to normal.
Md Rezaul Karim, deputy commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Uttara Division, confirmed the development to Jago News, saying the workers left the road around noon.
Earlier, workers from six to seven factories began their blockade in the Azampur area around 10:00 am, causing traffic congestion on nearby roads during office hours.

The workers said rising prices of essential commodities had made it difficult to make ends meet on their current wages. They said they had taken to the streets after repeated appeals to the authorities over unpaid wages and other demands failed to yield a solution.
On Wednesday, garment workers also blocked the road in Uttara around noon, demanding a minimum monthly wage of Tk 30,000.
