International Desk: The death toll has risen to 39 in Turkey and Greece. 885 people were injured in the seven-magnitude earthquake. Many are still trapped under the rubble of the collapsed building. The fire brigade has continued the rescue operation.
The country's disaster management agency said on Saturday (October 31st) night.
According to the Anadolu Agency, 243 of the injured are currently receiving medical treatment. The condition of 8 of them is critical. They have been kept in intensive care centers.
Witnesses said a magnitude 7.0 earthquake shook the city of Izmir in Turkey. Several villages have been flooded due to the earthquake.
The quake was felt around 2pm local time in Turkey on Friday. Which originated at a depth of 16.54 km below the surface. There have been nearly 700 aftershocks. Many of them were strong. Those levels were above 4 on the Richter scale.
The quake damaged 17 multi-storey buildings. Rescuers have rescued those who were trapped in them. The rescue work is still going on. Many are being rescued alive from the rubble even after a long time.
