Freedom of speech has limit: Justin Trudeau

International Desk: Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau condemns the attacks in France but says, ‘Free speech has limits’.

While defending ‘ free speech’ Trudeau said that it is important but ‘ it sure does come with limits’.

Canada will always defend freedom of expression ‘ Trudeau’s said, ‘ however,We owe it to ourselves to act with respect for others and to seek not to arbitrarily or unnecessarily injure those with whom we are sharing a society and a planet.’

Learning from Macron’s mistakes Trudeau was careful in framing his response and his statement about free speech was related to the recent controversy surrounding the cartoon printed and re-printed by the Charlie Hebdo magazine in France.

Referring to many opinions, different ideologies and respectful societies, Trudeau said that we are responsible for the impact of what we say, how we treat others, especially those communities and peoples who have experienced horrific discrimination.

Trudeau has condemned recent terrorist attacks in France. "It's unreasonable and Canada strongly condemns this act by standing by our French friends who are going through a very difficult time," he said.

Three people were stabbed to death in a church in southern France on Thursday. A Tunisian man carried out the attack. He has already been arrested.

Earlier, on October 16, a 18-year-old boy beheaded a school teacher on the outskirts of Paris. The teenager killed the school teacher out of anger over the display of controversial cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) .

The French government later awarded the schoolteacher the country's highest posthumous award and began displaying the controversial cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) on various buildings. French President Emmanuel Macron has ordered state-sponsored cartoons.

The French newspaper Shirley Ebdo also recently reprinted insulting cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). French President Emmanuel Macron, forgetting all democratic values and diplomatic practices, has announced that such cartoons will continue to be published in his country.

The Muslim world is outraged by the French president's insulting remarks. Several Muslim countries have called for a boycott of French goods and Macron has been asked to apologize for his anti-Islamic remarks. However, no action has been taken by France in this regard.
