Staff Reporter: A second wave of infections threatened to overwhelm the health service of The United Kingdom which forced to announce a National Lockdown. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has ordered England back into a one month national lockdown across England. This would kick in at a minute past midnight on Thursday morning and last until December 2.

‘Now is the time to take action because there is no alternative,” Johnson said at a hastily convened news conference in Downing Street after news of a lockdown leaked to local media.

The UK has the biggest official death toll in Europe from COVID-19 and is grappling with more than 20,000 new coronavirus detection a day already passed the milestone of one million cases. “Unless we act, we could see deaths in this country running at several thousand a day,” the prime minister warned.

During this period of restrictions people will only be allowed to leave home for specific reasons - for work, education, exercise, shopping for essentials and medicines, caring for the vulnerable. All Pubs and restaurants will be shut apart from for takeaways, non-essential retail will remain closed and amateur sports will be asked to stop.
