The government is doing everything to ensure road safety : PM

Special correspondent:

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that the government is doing everything to ensure safety on roads. Plenty of roads, bridges and culverts are being constructed in the country. Care should be taken to maintain the balance of nature in these constructions. Besides, measures have to be taken to benefit the local people.

The Prime Minister said this on the occasion of Safe Roads Day 2020 on Thursday (October 22) from Ganobhaban.

She said, “we do not understand the suffering of driving, because many of us have drivers. How many hours can a driver drive? They need rest. With that in mind, we are building restrooms in some places for drivers to rest. Rest houses will be constructed across the country in phases.”

"We are arranging separate vehicles for the girls," she said. We have arranged 16 vehicles for the movement of students.

The Prime Minister was optimistic that, with the launch of 6 Metro rails, traffic congestion in Dhaka and surrounding areas will be reduced.
