He made the remarks after paying tributes to party leaders at the Banani cemetery in the capital on Wednesday (November 3rd) on the occasion of Jail Murder Day.
Obaidul Quader said the seeds of communalism were sown in the country after the assassination of 4 national leaders after Bangabandhu.
Led by General Secretary Obaidul Quader, the central leaders of Awami League paid their respects at the graves of Syed Nazrul Islam, Tajuddin Ahmed and M Mansur Ali at Banani Cemetery at 9 am. Tributes were also paid to Kamaruzzaman's grave in Rajshahi.
Awami League general secretary and bridge minister Obaidul Quader led the party's presidium member Matia Chowdhury was present during the tribute. Dr. Abdur Razzak, Shahjahan Khan, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Dr. Hasan Mahmud, Dr. Dipu Moni, AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Science and Technology Secretary Abdus Sabur, Office Secretary Biplob Barua and others.
Apart from paying homage, the leaders and workers of the party also took part in Fateha recitation, Milad and prayer.
The day of the assassination of four national leaders in the custody of the state is being celebrated as Jail Murder Day. On the occasion of the day, a discussion meeting has been organized at the central office of the Awami League at 11 o'clock.
