Staff Correspondent: Jatiya Party Chairman and Deputy Leader of the Opposition G M Quader MP has said that the caretaker government system is not a complete solution for free, fair and credible elections. A caretaker government is not a long-term solution to fair elections. Therefore, in order to find a permanent solution in the formation of the Election Commission, it is necessary to make a law to form the Election Commission in the light of the Constitution. According to the constitution, all the divisions of the country will be under the Election Commission. According to the law, if the election commission is formed with neutral people, the people's right to vote will be ensured. In this context, he added that if the national elections are held under the caretaker government, the local government elections will be held under the party government. Therefore, if the Election Commission can be strengthened by law, there will be a permanent solution to all electoral systems.
Jatiya Party Chairman Golam Mohammad Quader made the remarks while addressing an introductory meeting of the Jatiya Ex-Servicemen Party at the Jatiya Party Chairman's Banani office auditorium at noon on Thursday (September 23).
Meanwhile, the Jatiya Party chairman further said that depoliticization is going on in the politics of the country. If this continues, the political parties will be the names and signboards of all political forces. If the candidates of the opposition camp do not survive in the elections, the political parties will become non-existent. He said that according to the constitution and democracy, the people's representatives will be elected through elections and the government will change through elections. But under the pressure of the government and the administration, the parties are becoming unsupportive. The people of the country are also losing interest in voting. Multi-party democracy cannot develop in this. Depoliticization can never be good for the country and the people. If the government exercises power in parallel with the Election Commission, the Election Commission will never be able to function properly. Therefore, there is no alternative to legislation to form the Election Commission.
Presidium members Lt. J. (Retd.) Masud Uddin Chowdhury MP, Mir Abdus Sabur Asud, Advocate Md. Rezaul Islam Bhuiyan also addressed the National Assembly. The meeting was chaired by a former soldier party president. Joynal Abedin and General Secretary Md. Nizam Uddin Sarkar were present in the meeting.
