Own Correspondent: Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina commented, I opened the election so that the election would not be questioned. No one could question this election.

She said these things at a special extended meeting of the Awami League at Ganobhaban, the official residence of the prime minister, today (Saturday) morning.

Sheikh Hasina said that the people of this country took up arms and fought in response to the call of the father of the nation. Power was not in the hands of the people for 21 years after the assassination of the Father of the Nation. Power was confined in the cantonment. People had no rights. Awami League returned the right to vote.

She also said, those who want to question the election, the question should be told why free and fair elections were not held.
