Salahuddin Warns Against Instability Over Hasina’s Return

Staff Repoter

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said on Sunday that the government had sent several letters to a neighbouring country through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, seeking the extradition of ousted former prime minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina under the existing extradition treaty.

Responding to a question about the possibility of Sheikh Hasina returning to Bangladesh in December, Salahuddin said, “We have also heard such discussions on social media.”

He made the remarks at the Home Ministry’s meeting room at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Sunday, October 25.

The home minister said the government would not allow anyone to create instability in the country.

“We will not allow any subversive force, fallen force, fascist, fugitive criminal or perpetrator of genocide to carry out any subversive activities,” he said.

Asked about reports of Sheikh Hasina’s possible return in December and the government’s preparations, Salahuddin said attempts by the former ruling forces to create instability had been continuing from the beginning.

“They want to create instability in Bangladesh and fish in troubled waters,” he said.

“We will not allow any evil force, fallen force, fascist, fugitive criminal or perpetrator of genocide to create instability in Bangladesh,” he added.

The home minister further said those who had fled Bangladesh following the mass uprising and were accused of killing hundreds of citizens would not be allowed to engage in subversive activities in the country.
