Unidentified assailants opened fire at the personal car of popular singer and former Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director Asif Akbar in the capital’s Moghbazar area early Saturday.

The incident took place in front of Bishal Centre shopping complex at dawn while Asif was inside his office on an upper floor of the building.

He said the incident had been reported to Hatirjheel Police Station, following which police personnel visited the scene to inspect the vehicle and investigate the incident.

Officer-in-Charge of Hatirjheel Police Station Md Asaduzzaman confirmed that gunshots had been fired at the singer’s parked car. He said no casualties were reported as Asif was not inside the vehicle when the shooting took place.
